The main attraction of this exhibition is the "Energy Challenge TourーEne-Cha!" This game takes you on a virtual cycling tour around the Wakasa region in Fukui prefecture while challenging you with quizzes and games. Our other exhibits include a miniature nuclear power plant that demonstrates the operation of the system as well as informative and interactive exhibits such as a section that lets you measure the natural environmental radiation we are exposed to in our everyday lives; an introduction to the Wakasa region, where our nuclear power plants are located; and a depiction of the dinosaurs that once roamed Fukui prefecture. In addition, we have provided benches that comply with "The clearance level system" while contributing to the efficient use of resources.

"The clearance level system"
This system allows for the recycling, reuse or disposal of materials obtained through the dismantling and operation of our nuclear power facilities. These materialsﾑnamely concrete and metals exhibiting very low radiation levelsﾑcan be used as materials for general recycling or as industrial waste.

Cars, household appliances, ships, building materials:lron and steel are used in products all around us. But how are they made? Entitled "The process of iron and steel making", the Sumitomo Metals' booth highlights this production process, showing the powerful, vigorous work of a steel plant through a video-and-sound show that will make you think you're really there.

We introduce clearly the achievement of "low-carbon paths" and water-shortage resolution which are currently required on a global basis. We also introduce new technologies to create energy for future generations such as systems related to biomass, waste power generation, desalination systems, laser processing machines for solar cells through panels, videos and quizzes.

Don't you think "Waste is no-longer-useful ? " We introduce the state-of-art incineration technology to make energy from Waste in this corner. We can make good use of Waste as hot water or electricity when well utilize the heat generated by the incineration of Waste. So, we think "Waste is the useful important resource".

The picture of Ancient Pyramid and the Modern High- Rise Buildings are reflected on the wide screen with the scale comparison. 2 crane games are also set up and the blocks could be piled high in the crane games. People can learn how difficult to build up the high- rise building and realize the importance of the ground to build the constructions through the crane game with fun. One exhibit well worth seeing is the Pyramid model built to a scale of about 60 to 1.

In this booth, we would like introduce you information of Fukui prefecture. Approximately 50% of all electricity in Kansai Region comes from nuclear power plants in Fukui prefecture. In addition, we would like to show you this power generation trial game which will have you to know the importance of best balance of various types of power. Nuclear energy is convenient and practical for environment as well as for our country with limited natural resources.

Diesel engines are a valuable source of power, key to many different machines that work for our benefit. For instance, agricultural machines that are essential in farming rice paddies and fields. Or construction machinery that helps build what we need. Even emergency power generators that help us during blackouts and power outages. Such machinery, as well as all the other types that keep working hard for us, all revolve around the diesel engine. Let’s learn about diesel engines-their mechanism for combustion and their many features.

Japan`s Space Development Technology is now proudly reaching the world top level. Here, we introduce Japan`s major large-scale launch vehicles as well as the International Space Station (ISS) program that is one of the great projects in human history. Please enjoy our exhibition with the models and simulation devices you can play with.

What is the structure of the earth system, the planet we live on? JAMSTEC researches the past, present and future of the Earth through "Ocean" by using the research vessels and vehicles including "SHINKAI 6500" and "D/V CHIKYU". Furthermore we will elucidate how the Earth has transformed itself into a habitable planet for human beings, and how it will become in the future. In this section, we are introducing the activities of JAMSTEC by showing deep sea creatures, various images and dioramas, etc.

OTOWA Electric is a special manufacture for lightning protection　producing products that defend various electrical equipments from lightning and electrical surges. In recent years many people have begun using computers, however due to the high frequency of lightning many computers have been damaged broken. Electrical malfunctions not only have occurred with computers but other electrical devices as well. Here we introduce devices that prevent lightning damage and you could learn about the properties of lightning, and by taking various quizzes, you can touch the Lightning world.
